Diane Cadman

Fiddle

Diane Diane joined the Angels in the spring of 2016. Although she had a musical upbringing, playing piano and singing in choirs for much of her life she didn't take up folk fiddle till 2001. She owes a great debt to Folkworks who provided wonderful teaching for learners coming late to folk music and performance and acknowledges a great debt to her teacher Stewart Hardy, without whom, as they say, it would not have been possible. She was a member of Blyth Valley ceilidh band which was an excellent community opportunity for learners to gain experience, and later she played for York Ceilidh club while working in the city for a few years. Now Diane is retired she can devote more of her energy to music; she enjoys folk sessions, workshops and festivals. On being part of the Angels she says

I like the wide and interesting repertoire and contributing to memorable events when people of all ages come together to share in music and dancing.
