Fiddle

Phil Phil was a founder member of the Angels and forged the twin fiddle lead that is the distinctive Angels sound.

Phil was a consultant psychiatrist and the band got used to him standing down to conducted extend telephone conversations as he offered advice to junior colleagues. Phil was an avid listener to other fiddle players from all over the world and added dozens of tune sets to the Angels repertoire. We are particularly indebted to him for the Frosty Morning and Stockton Jig sets.

He left the UK at the end of 2010 to pursue his career as a consultant Psychiatrist in New Zealand and then Australia where he still regularly plays in sessions. The picture shows Phil playing at a session at the Straw Bear Festival in Whitlesey in 2004.
